Learn how to Walk your Dog at Heel

"I have known Jim for 14 years and have recommended many of my clients to him for help and advice on all aspects of canine behaviour and training. His wealth of experience in training his own gundogs to a very high level and his calm, patient approach makes him a perfect teacher for those people experiencing difficulties with their dogs, especially teaching them to walk at the heel". (Elizabeth Smith BVetMed MRCVS)........

"After just one training session with Jim my dogs behaviour on the lead changed significantly. After subsequent sessions walking her became a pleasure rather than a chore. " (A.Mckinlay)........

"My springer Monty used to run off in the other direction when you called him to heel so I contacted Jim Mayor from Dogs at Heel to help me solve the problem. After just one session Monty would return when you called him back and would walk to heel. Jim certainly knows how to train problem dogs and now I can take Monty out (off the lead) without having to worry about him running away". (C. Scott)....

" Eleven years have past since the first time I met Jim Mayor. My wife, son, daughter and I had recently lost the family German Shepherd to old age and were missing the pleasures that a dog can bring to any family. Our local Vet told us about a litter of Labrador Retrievers for sale.

Enter Jim Mayor, Barbara Woodhouse in trousers! So obviously in touch with dogs it’s uncanny. Give him a dog quite happy to drag its owners for a walk and 30 seconds later it’s walking at heel, looking at him in the eye, wagging its tail and waiting for a command eager to please.

So infectious was Jim’s way with dogs I asked if he would be prepared to train the puppy we were buying from him. The training was an insight to the dog’s world and was more about training us than the dog. Once you begin to realise how the dogs mind is working your journey truly begins opening up another level of enjoyment that so many dog owners don’t experience. Absolutely a must for any dog owner but be careful, we began with one dog and now have eight! " (S. Vanstone)........

" I e-mail to thank you for your good work training myself and Holly.

As you know, I could not walk Holly on a lead without one arm feeling two inches longer than the other and Holly gasping for air as she constantly choked while pulling on her lead.

Following your training and advise, and sticking to it, we now enjoy going out for walks without her pulling, and we both return in a far better frame of mind having enjoyed the walk.

Just by walking properly on the lead I now, for the first time, actually feel in control of Holly and enjoy her more for it. Again, I cant thank you enough. " (C. Daniels).........Teach your dog to walk at Heel

" Eric is a large Doberman, cross Rough Collie, who I was unable to control. Walking on the lead was a misery as I was dragged down the road, he would not come to my call. So difficult to handle was this dog that I thought that I would not be able to keep him. I was fortunate enough to meet Jim Mayor who took him in hand. The transformation was amazing, he made Eric behave as he should and showed me how I could control this large dog. Eric became well behaved and obedient. Eric has been a joy and my best mate, this would not have been possible without Jim Mayor he is the dog whisperer. Eric and I thank you Jim ". ( C. McDermott )........

" We had all but given up ever training our dog Bob. Taking a walk slowly turned from a pleasure to a chore with Bob pulling every which way on a lead. It was then our good fortune to meet Jim, he soon gave us really useful tips and gave us the confidence to control our dog. We can not thank Jim enough " ( G. Racher )........
